4 Step Hack to Finding a Unique Brand Name for Your New Business or Startup

If you’ve ever struggled with finding a good brand name for your startup or project, you’re not alone. I’ve faced the same challenge and developed a simple hack to help you out. Hopefully, you’ll find it valuable.

#### Step-by-Step Framework

1. List All Relevant Words : Start by listing all the Action & Non Action Words associated with your business category.

2. Select the Most Relevant Word: Choose the word that best communicates your business in the simplest and most unique way.

3. Consider Altering the Spelling: Optionally, tweak the spelling to keep the essence of the word while making it distinctive.

4. Add a Modifier: Optionally, add words like Get, Go, The, Buy, Start, Your, Easy, My, etc., to create a unique and relevant domain name.

Let’s see how this framework works with real businesses.

Example 1: Laundry Business

1. List Relevant Words (preferably action words)
  • Sort
  • Wash
  • Fold
  • Iron
  • Clean
2. Pick a Word

I choose ‘Fold’ because it uniquely and simply represents the laundry business. Words like ‘Wash’ or ‘Clean’ are too generic.

3. Alter the Spelling

Experiment with variations:

  • Folld
  • Foldd
  • Folde
  • Fohld

I choose ‘Folde’ for its simplicity and uniqueness.

4. Add a Modifier

Try different combinations:

  • GetFolde
  • GoFolde
  • EasyFolde
  • TheFolde

My top preferences are:

  • The Folde
  • Easy Folde (suggesting the service makes life easier)

Guess what? EasyFolde is available as a domain. Now, you can brand your laundry business as ‘Folde’ and use easyfolde.com.

Example 2: Dog-Related Business

This could be a dog walking, grooming, or food business.

1. List Relevant Words (preferably action words)
  • Bark
  • Leash
  • Yelp
  • Fetch
  • Leap
  • Bury
  • Roll
  • Wag
  • Guard
2. Pick a Word

I choose ‘Fetch’ for its simplicity and relevance to a dog business.

3. Alter the Spelling

Experiment with variations:

  • Fettch (though not my favorite)
4. Add a Modifier

Try different combinations:

  • Go Fetch or Go Fettch
  • The Fetch or The Fettch
  • Your Fetch or Your Fettch
  • Easy Fetch or Easy Fettch

Hopefully, these examples inspire you to think creatively and find unique yet simple names for your new business. By following this framework, you can create a memorable brand name that stands out in your industry.
